As the first year of the newly formed Customer Committee comes to a close, it has proved to be a huge learning curve for the six residents on the committee.

Throughout the year, they have familiarised themselves with all the performance data, policies, and procedures, and looked at complaints handling and repairs.

The current focus of the committee is the issue of communication – an area often raised by residents as being poor and inconsistent. Over the coming year, the committee will regularly monitor the improvement plan to ensure change is delivered to improve communication with residents. It’s clear the next 12 months will keep the committee busy; checking performance and challenging areas where it is falling short of expectations and seeking assurance and evidence of improvements.

This new committee of residents offers a great opportunity to challenge Clarion to improve services to residents and ensure the Housing Association Board is aware of the concerns of residents and the improvements needed.
